I'm with Jonathan. I don't think I've ever seen this before. Quite a different way to engage the customer - perhaps it's because this is probably the simplest licensing scheme we've come up with yet for a product - you pay $499 and you manage up to 10 servers. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
Ok, I think this could be a first for one of our server products - you can now buy MOM 2005 Workgroup Edition online for $499, and download and use it immediately! The MOM team's next step should clearly be to hook up their scrolling-LED message board in our building's lobby to count the number of downloads. And maybe flash "KA-CHING!" every time someone purchases a copy :-)
The MOM team have also released more guides for specific management packs. These guides should be your first port of call if you want to know how to deploy the management packs, use them, and generally make them sit up and beg.
