Many people have asked how I put together the desktop cam at the left of this page. Well, it's a pretty simple hack that I did - I say simple, but it literally took me 2 hours to figure out how to change the .aspx files for my .Text skin to add the cam into the column on the left. I should have paid more attention in school and became a developer.

Here's the recipe:
1. Download SCWebCam (a donationware utility) from
http://www.harmlesslion.com/software/Default. SCWebCam will install in your tasktray and can be configured to take a screenshot every so often and then either upload via FTP to your site or even host the image via a built-in web server. It will even create the thumbnail and full size image for you automatically. I have SCWebCam configured to take snap a picture every 30 seconds and upload to http://www.roudybob.net/images/desktop.

2. Edit your web page to include the thumbnail with a hyperlink to the full size image. I've posted my PageTemplate.aspx file
here for those of you interested in looking at it. Don't critique my code - I'm just a hack, remember!

3. That's it.

I found this the other day...a link to the creators of the Red vs Blue Halo movies. They did a segment for the PDC which I posted about here. These guys are really funny - but I think you have to be a Halo fan to "get it". I personally ordered the Season 1 DVD. I also found halo.bungie.org - a great Halo fan site with all kinds of background info on the Halo story, Screenshots, Music - and my favorite - Halo movies. Cool content for Halo fans.
