I'm too lazy to blog my own blog, so I thought I'd blog my comments to another person's blog. Follow that?

Kent has a great post started over at his blog. I agree with him on most everything he has to say (on this post, anyway!) and came up with my own list of life-changing technologies...

My Outlook @ work and Outlook @ home have NEVER been out of sync. The technology I use is flawless (if not beautiful to look at!) - my wife. She is in the charge of the calendar and sends me meeting requests to both my work address and my home address. I've not had a problem with it in years... ;-)

In all seriousness, I too look forward to the day when my calendar is my calendar - regardless of where I'm at. I'd love for my wife to be able to pull up my work calendar along side of hers in Outlook to see when I'm out of town over the next week or plan family activities around work events.

What a great post - albeit long. I doubled my ridalin dose before I started reading. I have to agree with you on all accounts - technology is still to hard but is getting better. Some pieces of technology that have changed my life dramatically:

1. PVR - I'm a slimy trader and have a Tivo, but the concept of PVR in general has changed the way I watch television and helped me get gain more control over what and when I watch.

2. Digital Music - I used to have 300+ CDs in racks in my living room. My 2 year old used to get into them at least 3 times a week. I would never listen to music because it was too hard to find the right CD, get it out, play it, put it back, etc. I now have 40GB of music on my home PC and carry half of that on my portable player when I travel. It is now MUCH more convienent to listen to the music that I enjoy.

3. Broadband Internet - My god, dial-up is brutally slow. 'nough said.

4. Optical media - whether it's the DVD movies that sit in my collection, the data backups that I burn to DVD-RAM, the CDs I buy at the store, etc - optical media beats the hell outta tape. Could you imagine backing up your 200+GB harddrive to your Colorado backup unit? Or still using an 8 track in your car - heaven forbid you forget and leave your favorite new cassette sitting on the dash of your car in August.
